YCAL Hosts Career Opportunities Day

YORK, PA. – March 08, 2012 – 204 York County high school juniors and seniors attended Career Opportunities Day on Thursday, March 8 at HACC's York Campus.
The event was the culmination of the Career Opportunities Program (COPS), an in-school curriculum available to York County High School juniors and seniors preparing to enter the professional workforce. COPS provides students with the opportunity to work with local human resource professionals to develop knowledge and skills pertaining to job preparedness.
Students had the opportunity to attend three breakout sessions pertaining to one of the 16 National Career Clusters as well as a Business Expo and a Post-Secondary Expo. The Expos allowed the students to interact with the business community and post-secondary institutions to help them understand their options upon graduation.
The York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL), an entity of the York County Economic Alliance, is a non-profit organization that works with businesses and schools to provide career education, relevant academic experiences, and work based experiences for students and educators in York County. Career Opportunities is a YCAL program offered in high schools throughout York County.
