YCAL Hosts Career Education and Work Standards Symposium, Awards Grants
YORK, PA.  – February 28, 2013 – Over 130 York County educators attended the Career Education and Work Standards Symposium on Tuesday, February 26 at Red Lion Area High School.  The Symposium was hosted by the York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL).
The Symposium sessions provided educators with impactful, relevant lesson plans to adapt to the grade level in which they specialize.  The lesson plans encompassed the Career Education and Work Standards, Pennsylvania’s academic standards, including career awareness and preparation; career acquisition; career retention and advancement; and entrepreneurship.
Red Lion was proud to host the Career Education and Work Standards Symposium. YCAL's partnership with local school districts provides our teachers and students with authentic career experiences that will certainly help our students to make informed decisions about their future career paths as well as better prepare our teachers to meet the growing demands of educating students for a global society,” stated Dr. Scott Deisley, Superintendent, Red Lion Area School District.
At the Symposium, YCAL awarded $8,000 to 11 educators through YCAL’s Innovation Grant program.  Applicants were required to partner with a York County business or organization to develop an innovative project that supports YCAL’s mission of facilitating the development of a high quality, relevant workforce through career awareness.
