YCAL Hosts York County School Directors' Dinner

York County Alliance for Learning Honors School Directors
 
YORK, PA – February 5, 2013 The York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL) honored two superintendents and 27 York County school board members for their years of service at the 2013 York County School Directors’ Dinner on Thursday, January 31.
 
The evening included a co-presentation on YCAL’s Law Mentoring Program by program leader, Attorney Walter A. Tilley, III of Stock and Leader Attorneys at Law and Central York High School junior and Program participant, Alexander Klunk. Ryan Barton, Engineer in Training at C.S. Davidson, Inc. also provided remarks as an Architecture, Construction, Engineering (ACE) Design Mentoring Program graduate detailing the impact the ACE Mentoring Program had on his ability to secure internships and employment following graduation.
 
The following superintendents were recognized for five years of service:
·         Dr. Robert Krantz - Dover Area School District
·         Dr. Kathryn Orban - York Suburban School District
The following School Board Directors were recognized for five years of service:
·         Timothy Bieber –Central York School District
 
·         Lindy Lingg - Hanover Public School District
 
·         Jim O’Connor - New Hope Academy Charter School
 
·         Rob Cooper - New Hope Academy Charter School
 
·         John Eyster - New Hope Academy Charter School
 
·         Hope Johnson - New Hope Academy Charter School
 
·         Stephen Mitchell - New Hope Academy Charter School
 
·         Ben Pratt - New Hope Academy Charter School
 
·         William Gingerich - Northeastern School District
 
·         Venessa Snell - Northeastern School District
 
·         Jeffrey Fix - Red Lion Area School District
 
·         James Morgan - School District of the City of York
 
·         Tonia Wright - South Eastern School District
 
·         Todd Gettys - West York Area School District

The following School Board Directors were recognized for 10 years of service:
·         Linda Smith – Red Lion Area School District
·         Robert Schefter – Southern York County School District
The following School Board Directors were recognized for 15 years of service:
·         Margie Walker – Northeastern School District
·         Cathy Shaffer – York Suburban School District
The following School Board Directors were recognized for 20+ years of service:
·         M. Ann Rinker – 22 years, York County School of Technology and 29 years, South Western School District
·         Dale Myers – 23 years, South Western School District
·         Darvin Shelley – 31 years, York County School of Technology and 39 years, Eastern York School District
YCAL’s Mentoring Programs provide York County high school juniors and seniors with hands-on experience, preparation and guidance for their future careers. Each mentoring program meets after school on a consistent basis and focuses on a career pathway. Business mentors attend each meeting and guide students by answering questions and monitoring progress. A culminating project is featured at the end of each program to showcase the knowledge gained through the program.
YCAL, an entity of the York County Economic Alliance, is a non-profit organization that works with businesses and schools to provide career education, relevant academic experiences, and work based experiences for students and educators in York County. Career Opportunities is a YCAL program offered in high schools throughout York County.
