YORK COUNTY ALLIANCE FOR LEARNING RECEIVES $10,000 GRANT

YORK, PA – The York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL) has received a $10,000 grant from York County Community Foundation’s Fund for York County to support its Pre-Apprenticeship Program, which will launch in the 2017-2018 School Year. Announcement of the grant was made by Jane M. Conover, President of the Community Foundation, whose Board of Directors approved the grant on December 19th.

Kevin Appnel, Executive Director of YCAL, said the funds will be used to purchase two years of access to the online learning portal that will provide students skills in Basic Math and Blue Print Reading used in the Pre-Apprenticeship Program’s on-site practicum. “We were fortunate enough to partner with Kinsley Construction who, through their Kinsley Education Center, has graciously agreed to provide students with the practicum portion of the program. Now that we have received this funding, we anticipate being able to offer this program to our participating High School’s students at no cost to the districts or students for the foreseeable future,” said Appnel.

In February 2017, YCAL will begin accepting applications from its Partner High School’s current Junior class. The program will begin in September 2017 and run through April 2018. Interested applicants should visit www.ycal.us/preapprenticeship for more information about the program and application instructions. Applications will be accepted up until March 31st.
