York County Alliance for Learning Names Program Coordinator

YORK, PA – The York County Alliance for Learning (YCAL) has named Dr. Kristin Johnson as their new Program Coordinator.

Previously Kristin served as a Special Education Teacher for 18 years at Susquehannock High School and was recently an Instructional Advisor at South Eastern School District. After earning a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Scranton, Kristin recently earned an educational doctorate in Leadership & Management in Special Education from Drexel University.

Kristin was first introduced to YCAL 4 years ago, when she served as Southern York County School District’s YCAL representative. This entailed serving as the primary contact between YCAL and students from her district and attending YCAL’s monthly Education Committee meetings.

YCAL Executive Director Kevin Appnel stated that, “Kristin is going to be an amazing addition to the YCAL team. To have someone with her character and qualifications will really help strengthen the organization to serve our educators, students, and employers in greater ways.”

YCAL connects educators and employers to engage students in various career development activities to help drive the workforce. YCAL currently offers a variety of approximately 30 Career Exploration Programs and Pre-Apprenticeship programs in Construction, Electrical, and Manufacturing to local high school students. YCAL also offers educator enrichment programs such as the Career Education and Work Standards Symposium and Educator in the Workplace.
