Educator in the Workplace

Educator in the Workplace

The Educator in the Workplace program connects teachers with the business community. The course provides educators the opportunity to develop an awareness and understanding of integrating the business and education communities, explore and develop innovative instruction practices, and provide relevance while building a capacity to enhance student achievement.  Through a mix of classroom learning activities and on-site learning in a workplace environment, educators enrolled in this course can expect to bring relevant work standards and experiences back to their classrooms.

YCAL, in Partnership with Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12, currently offers two versions of this program:

  • Fall/Spring Cohort (30 Act 48 Credits)
    • 1 Online Orientation Webinar
    • 2 Evening Classroom Sessions
    • 2 8-Hour Workplace Days
  • Summer Cohort (60 Act 48 Credits with an optional 3 graduate-level credits)
    • 1 Online Orientation Webinar
    • 1 Day Preparation Session
    • 3 8-Hour Workplace Days
    • 1 Day Wrap-up Session

This program is offered to educators within the LIU’s service area for Act 48 credits. Educators enrolled in the expanded Summer Cohort may elect to enroll and complete this program as a graduate-level course at Wilson College.  Educators enrolling to receive graduate-level credit would be responsible for completing Wilson College’s registration process and the associated per-credit costs.
